The 2020 US Census for the State of Illinois, the County of Kane and the City of Elgin was marketed by GMCI™ Creative from February to October of 2020. The results of the Census had Elgin and Kane County counts increase by 7% over 2010.
We marketed the Census and getting counted in specific targeted neighborhoods that are statistically and regularly undercounted by the Census. We created ads explaining the safety and anonymity of Census data to skeptical audiences. We ran all ads in Spanish and English to hit the targeted undercounted Hispanic market. This was a full-press campaign of digital video, display and tracer ads along with geofenced targeted mobile friendly ads, billboards, bus tails, bus stations and bus interior display ads. We also ran pre-movie theatre ads before the pandemic shut down all theaters.
