A National Water Trail

In 2022, GMCI was retained to help Kane County, Illinois create a turnkey marketing plan for the Fabulous Fox! Water Trail that can be used in all seven counties along the Trail. This included, one-on-one interviews with municipalities, park districts, forest preserves, organizations and other partners within the segment. It also included surveys and a brand summit with SWOTT analysis. These events were attended by the principal agents of Kane County municipalities, water shed partners and 5 Convention and Visitors Bureau Directors.

From here, GMCI developed a full marketing plan with budgeting and creative for websites, social media, print and video messaging. This plan will now be emulated by the other segments of the Fabulous Fox! Water Trail. Our full marketing plan was a piece of the group’s application to the US Department of the Interior for designation as a National Water Trail.

The Fabulous Fox! Water Trail was granted designation as a National Water Trail in June of 2023 by the Secretary of the Interior. With GMCI’s assistance, Kane County Was also awarded the Tourism Attractions and Festivals Grant from DCEO as part of the Route 66 & Local Tourism Marketing Grant Program. GMCI will be managing this substantial marketing and advertising grant through 2024.
